I love Aldi: Chicken Risotto Frozen Meal Review

What Aldi say it should look like

I had a busy day - story of my life. My handy freezer meal came in handy again. I had to run out to get nappies. Otherwise there is pandemonium like world falling apart trouble. So back on the freezer meal at the laptop for me today. I am sure that everyone is starting to think that I do not cook and I am one of those ones that eat really badly. But if you do.. so what!?

What it actually looks like
Honestly this one doesn't taste bad. You know when have low expectations of freezer meals? Yeah that. But this one is decent and I was pleasantly surprised. I am wondering when I will give up and go back to instant noodles again. I sense that time would be near....

Price: Tick
Appearance: Tick not that bad!
Taste: Tick. It actually taste really good. Do not forget the white pepper though, I am a white pepper fiend. Not salty, just ok.. moreeee chicken pieces pleaseeeee...
Will buy again Factor: Yeap.. except I still have not learnt and I want another one after. 2 Serves for this girl thanks!

P.S: This is not a paid post. I had shelled out $4 for my own meal.

  1. $4! That's good. I love my Lean Cuisine, but they set me back about $6-$8!!! I only get them cos of the "low calorie" nonsense.

What's the calorie content for these Aldi meals? I would love it if u include that in your review. Don't mind the salt content, just calories :)

I wanna try Aldi meals too!

  2. Mmm... I haven't had ready meals in ages, but I remember when I did one of my faves was a risotto one by... Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine I think? Because of the texture of risotto, it didn't really matter too much about the steam and sogginess that ready meals often have. YUM I have a risotto craving now, think I may have to cook one up this week some time!

  3. Looks interesting. I have tried a few of the steam Lean Cuisine ones before, they're not too bad, I think it's the steam factor :-)

    1. The pasta ones are usually too mush for me. It's pretty much like soft foods! I think I might stick to rice.

  4. Enjoying your handy meal reviews! I never eat them but they other night needed something super quick and easy so grabbed a Sun Rice Thai Mussaman Curry off the shelf (the shelf! Ewww!). It was $3 (bargain!) and actually tasted really good. The shock! I'd definitely try it again and test out another flavour too. But like you, I needed another one straight after LOL. Might give the Aldi one's a try, looks like I'm a handy meal convert :)

    1. You have reminded me that there's a packet of Uncle Ben's rice in my pantry. It landed in my mailbox for some weird reason... not sure where that came from!

  6. That actually looks pretty tasty and the serving size looks decent. That's one thing I miss from the US - cheap as chips tasty frozen meals in hundreds of varieties!
