Since when are Stripper Heels alright?

I have been meaning to write this for a long time. When I started pole dancing in Melbourne a lifetime and a half ago. Hardly anyone in Melbourne wore stripper heels to class. They might wear them for performances but stripper heels remained in the domain of the King Street girls - go you girls powahhh to you.

I was at Sexpo (yes I did promo for Xpole at Sydney Sexpo.. so glam right now!) and I was struggling to stand for the entire day in my high heels. I bought a pair of clear perspex stripper heels that had diamantes and were six inch as the other girls said they were more comfortable to stand in. I thought I was like super tall and super glam. Heck yeah my legs look like slits! When I went back to pole classes in Melbourne, I remember bringing in my stripper heels. People laughed at me.. Yeah they laughed.

Who's laughing now?? I'm seeing mega big 6 inch heels on the pavements now and there are only 2 heel heights when you are buying shoes. Flats or mega 5 inches and above. Even Ferragamo has platform pumps! BTW they are currently on sale at Shopbop!

Ferragamo goes 5 inches
Somewhere during my fashion dark days aka pregnancy, post birth poverty very closely followed by pregnancy again, stripper heels hit the streets big time. What's going on people? Stop it.. stop pounding the pavement and tripping around drunk in stripper heels. I always thought it would not last long, but I read a ShopBop Facebook update recently. Sky High Heels it said. And then I sawTHIS. What is this!! Giuseppe Zanotti - I say no to this.

Shoes or Weapon?

Think of the poor strippers people! I was talking to some of them about shoes. They said that they no longer want 6 inch heels and have been wearing 7.5 and above inch ones. 8 inch people.. think of their poor ankles. And I hear this style below is really popular with them now. I just have no words.

8 inch tower of terror
I am starting to feel like a Nana so I will end rant here. Are you walking around with towers of terrors?

  1. Hell no.
I fall on my butt in regular heels, I wouldn't even be able to stand up in those things.

Just looking at them make my feet hurt.

    3. OMG i don't wish anyone to stack on their heels ever. I have seen some near misses on 8inch heels, she nearly flew into the gambling table at Crown. LOL

  4. I wore platform heels to my SIL's wedding recently and couldn't believe how much pain I was in at the end of the evening! Poor hubby had to go and get me flats when we arrived home because I didn't want to put them back on to walk from the car to the house. I guess that's what I get for pretty much living in flats for the last four and a half years, since my kiddos have been here. (I do sometimes wear wedges and occasionally heels, but there are no skyscrapers in my cupboard).

  5. I wear big shoes at work but I wear flats to and from work.

Sometimes I end up being that girl at the end of the night at weddings with no shoes on. Oh the shame!

  10. I only buy shoes that I feel comfortable walking in.. that being said, I hate platform shoes or sky-high stilettos, I think most of them look really quite overbearing and tacky :( I prefer my shoes single-level with modest height, thanks!

    1. Platforms are incredibly uncomfortable too. I put on my normal boots and thought omgawd how different are these!

  11. I find super high heels with platforms don't flatter my legs at all!!!!!!!
Perfect heel height to accentuate my legs are 11.5cm.
Nothing more of a turn off than girls in the corporate office "wearing" super high heels and stumbling around cos they can't handle it!!

    1. Yeappp i hear ya about people who cannot wear them. I guess I was in that classification of cannot walk in them when I insist on wearing my Louboutins.

  12. WEAPON! Stab someone with those!!

I'm around 175cm so anything that makes me feel as if i'm the tallest person in the room is a big no no. I bought the YSL tributes and as nice as they are, they just collect dust. I need to start practicing walking in heels though!I actually like those SF!!!

    1. The Tributes ... I don't know.. sometimes I think they are so fug then I see them on some online store and I really want them. Those SFs are nice right? So classy but look at the toe box, it's so narrow and pointy, it's gonna be a killer.

  13. I am anti-sky high heels! I bought some a few years ago... never again. They are so uncomfortable. I only have 3 pairs of heels (OMG) and they are all no platform/reasonable height! Don't know how other ladies do it, but more power to them for looming over me even more than they already do haha!

I have worn stripperesque heels. I have stacked. Haha.

  15. I can't wear heels so 8 inches terrifies me, but even when I could I'd wear the tallest heels I could buy...and then would have to take them off 10 minutes after because I couldn't walk anymore. I don't know why I did it to myself!

  19. No way! I think they look very trashy and how the hell do you walk in them anyway? I remember seeing Japanese women wearing ultra high heels whist riding a bike!
