Stalk my Holiday Noms: Singapore Chow Down

I am a creature of routine so being on holiday throws me off. But the best thing about being in Singapore is tasty food at good prices (some places) available at anytime of the day that you want it. Well maybe not at all hours unlike Hong Kong. I have so much to blog but so little time. So to get back into routine of Stalking posts, I gotta do one big Nom brag post. Hold on tight..

One thing I have found about being in Singapore.. is that they ALWAYS bring the bill to the males. Dude my Mum's credit card was in the folder, why did you hand it to the only male on the table?? Another thing I realised is that if you are a tourist, nobody will let you pay in Singapore. This is one of the lovely meals that we had in Singapore that my friend suggested. The restaurant has shut down - sorry peeps. But to nom brag.. it was a fusion Euro-SEAsian place. Truffle Mac and Cheese.. for the win!

Bosses Yummies!

Another friend of mine A met us at Vivo City Bosses. The star dish of the restaurant were the salted egg yolk custard buns called Liu Sha Bao. I call them squirty molten lava buns. I managed to squirt custard everywhere and create so much mess. It was embarrassing but lord it tasted good. We also had a beautiful vegetarian tofu dish bottom left picture - which doesn't do justice to it. And on the bottom right is yummy pork belly. Mick said he could just sit and eat that one dish.

Char Kway Teow is Mick's favourite Singaporean hawker food and for me I would probably pick Roti Prata as it is so expensive to have a roti prata here. Yes! Roti Prata for breakfast.. that's the schizzle. The two pictures on the right were from Wisma Food Court. You just cannot get decent oyster omelette in Melbourne. I tried the one at Taiwan cafe and it was blah.

Prawn Chee Cheong Fun

Can someone say DIM SUMMM (or to Aussies Yum Cha)?? On weekends most Chinese restaurants are booked out and you definitely have to call up and book a table. The highly acclaimed Tim Ho Wan had not opened yet when we were there. We went to Imperial Treasure at Great World City twice in 2 days. Yeappp.. that's how much we love it. The Siew Yoke (roast pork) is amazing and crisp and is very lean without being dry. I have not had pickled ginger with century eggs in years so I had to order it. Mick was like ??? and did not like it one bit. Excuse those Siew Mai and Beef Ball pictures that are missing a ball. I was feeding Pickles and forgot to take pictures before eating. The prawn Cheong Fun looked yummy... I am not sure as D ate one entire plate by himself. Sigh.. 

Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah

My Uncle waited 1.5hrs for Tau Sar Piah .. 1 and a half hours people! The box of goodies was still hot when  I was eating. These are pastries filled with green bean pastes and there are two varieties - sweet and a salty version. My personal favourite is the salty. Heck to the yes... now where to find this in Melbourne? :( Get yourself to 639 Balestier Rd which is near Thomson Medical Centre. Do not get distracted by the other Tau Sar Piah stores along that road.

Controversial Durian puffs

You either hate or love durian. There is no in between. Lucky for me I love it.... these are what I believe to be choux pastries filled with durian paste. There were soft, yummy and fresh... and maybe smelly too. I can sense your nausea right now so I shall stop! LOL 

Ball Food

I gotta add a ball food right? I love Takoyaki octupus balls so much! This was from the food court in Ion and we had our balls with bubble tea. Yum Yummmm..

Macro Organic Meat Competition

The only Macro Food item that I had been purchasing were the chicken drumsticks from Woolworth's supermarkets for chicken and vegetable soup. I thought that they only stocked free range chicken products! Well.. I was wrong! At the Social Mums blogger event on Saturday, we had a chance to sample some of the sausages that they have in stock for Australia Day. So get your grills fired up for the sausage fest of a post here.

The sausages available to sample on the day was Lamb, Lamb and Mint and Mini Micro Beef. They asked D what he wanted, he just kept yelling I WANT SAUSAGEEE. So I picked a lamb sausage for both him and Pickles. Before this I honestly did not know that they had a sausage range! I stopped at 2 sausages but check out the BBQ picture above. Hello Sausage Fest. ;) I can say that D chomped down the entire thing including the bread so it is a tick in his books. 

I had been buying Macro free range chickens all this while as I do believe that free range and organic meat taste better. All of Macro branded products are made from certified organic meat from an organic farm with no preservatives. The feed of the animals is also organic and most importantly is from a free range farm.

Stalk my Noms: Christmas Day Chow Down

The Spread

Here's a preview to our Christmas spread. I picked up the seafood from my friend's house on Christmas eve. This is the second year of ordering seafood through her and honestly I do not think I will go back to fighting crowds at Victoria Market. My order this year was raw prawns 2kg, one crayfish and one dozen of oysters. Winning! WINNING!

The Breakfast

I rewind you back to the breakfast. Avo on toast and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. I love smoked salmon but cannot eat much of it. And you will notice one of those lovely balls again. Those balls should be in every dish, seriously.. balls. After I had breakfast, Pickles and I played with Mr Potato head. He later ran off somewhere else and I fell asleep. I fell asleep people! And I slept for 3hours and woke up at lunchtime. Still in my PJs.. I ran to the shower and quickly changed. Meanwhile .... this already happened! 

The Ham

The ham was baked and glazed while I was sleeping. This year our ham is 2.5kg (thank goodness smaller than last year) and from Happy Valley Free Range. It tasted amazeballs and Mick took pictures of the cooking process if anyone is interested in a recipe. Free range ham is really expensive, if I told you how much it cost you guys would pass out. But it's once a year.. and grandma taught me to eat well and save on other things. The problem is that I also spend way too much on other things!!

The Cray Cray

Then the cray cray... Check this bad boy out. It is so yummy and I am now converted. I think I would rather have this than prawns now. Honestly, so good! This was split already and seriously, how good does that look?

Chow Down begins

That's a picture of my plate. Loaded up with garlic prawns, crayfish, salad, oysters and glazed ham. The oyster was so creamy and plump, the ham just so tasty. Cray.. well, cray is my new love. Garlic prawns.. mmmm and my yummy salad! As long as there are those balls in there again and avo - I'm there!

Le Petit Gateau sélections

Dessert was a selection of yummies from Le Petit Gateau. Can't be stuffed organising dessert just for ourselves. On Christmas eve, we were heading to the city anyway. So we picked up - from left - Chocolate Brownie Gateau, Green tea cake, Hazelnut mille feuille. Without a doubt, the green tea is just going to be a hot favourite in this house for next time. My goodness .. get yourself to Le Petit Gateau and thank me next time.

What are you doing for your holidays? I'm just about sick of looking at leftover food and not being able to eat out! I actually had to cook leftovers today - more on that in another post. We also made strawberry ice cream with a $25 Aldi ice cream machine. The recipe was fantastic! And I can't wait to have it tonight when it is frozen hard. Other than that, I'm wanting to go to the Boxing day sales. Anyone braved it today? Merry Christmas once again!!

Keep or eBay

This is one of those Keep or eBay post. I bought this because it was 20% off and I grabbed something.
I did not think this through and when I wore it. Mick said erm have you looked at yourself in the mirror? Which means what on earth is that? I think he's not used to seeing me in something like this as I usually wear quite fitted clothing. What's the verdict? Keep or eBay?

Keep or Sell?

After the I don't love Aldi review yesterday I feel like I had to redeem myself. Just sharing what I had for breakfast. Avo on toast, bacon and a random bocconcini ball. Please disregard all other supermarkets and just get to Aldi to get these balls. Everyone needs balls I'm tellin' ya!
