I took a cab home yesterday from work. It was 7pm and I had been there since 8.30 in the morning and I had not left my desk. I was really not in the mood to stand and wait for a train and walk up a hill.
You know when you get into a cab and you think.. Ok this cab is safe and clean! WOW! Yes that! The driver was someone who had been in the advertising industry for 35 years. Of course, after I heard this, I asked if he had watched Mad Men. :) The lovely cab driver started to over share details of his life - as all drivers do - and told me about his plans on liquidating everything he owned n Australia to move to Scotland and write his mythology book. After giving me snippets on how he hates swearing, how he believes the ying and the yang in the world are at imbalance, the corporate greed made him want to shoot his brains out. He started talking about his passion about writing..in the last 5minutes of the journey. He turned it around to me and said what is your passion? I have talked way too much.
I sat there and had nothing to say for a minute. Do I really not have a passion? I hope I am not alone in this! Take a minute to stop and think what is your passion and report back. I am still debriefing myself. What is my passion?

I would totally freeze up if someone asked me that....because shopping, reading and surfing for pretty things on the internet hardly seem like worthy passions!
ReplyDeleteMad Men, such a great show! As for your passion, I'm sure you'll discover it one day :)
ReplyDeleteYes ladies, I froze and thought omg you cannot say yah I totally tweet and write about trivial stuff on the Interwebz. He started the speech on the youth of today and he said but what is your passion? Is it women's equality in the corporate workplace? Or kids? Or ... Lucky I distracted him by giving him the final directions to my house and ran out!
ReplyDeleteI would be stumped myself if that question was turned on me. What is my passion....? To think I'm entering my 30's with no direction gaaaaaaaah....sad.
ReplyDeleteIf you sat in the office from 830am till 7pm, I think your passion lies in there somewhere. My passion is gathering all my friends in one room to enjoy the best food, wine and music there is.
ReplyDeletePassion... tricky question! IDK :( I do enjoy sewing but I can't call it my "passion" if it's a recent thing, can I? I go through phases... music, food, wine, TV... but they're not passions, are they? Aww, how sad :(
ReplyDeleteHave to agree, I'm still looking for mine. I've tried making lists of things I love to do and things I do well, but none of them really gives my life meaning.
